Story
Occupation: Bookkeeper – Superannuation, Boyce Chartered Accountants
From: Dynamo Dance Studio
About me:
Originally from Hills District/Kenthurst region of Sydney however moved to Cooma in 2006. We moved to a rural area for a less stressful and healthier way of life.
That’s something I’m a bit passionate about - health and fitness. Staying functionally fit and eating fresh whole foods. I walk at 6am two mornings a week with my girlfriends – mostly motivated by coffee, a chat and the need to be outside. My lunchtimes are usually spent in our local gym working up a sweat before going back to work at Boyce Chartered Accountants working in their superannuation area as part of the “Super Team”. I also like to garden and ride our two horses when I can and go out for a day’s water skiing on beautiful Jindabyne Lake during the fantastic hot dry summers down here.
Why I am participating in Strictly Musical:
Cancer touched my family early – when I was 2, my Mum died at the age of 30 from bowel cancer leaving myself, my 4 year old brother and Dad behind. If I can put just 12 weeks of effort into helping fundraise with the MCCR so local families can benefit from the treatment facilities and support then count me in!
It’s for the local community and we all should be more supportive of helping raise money with the MCCR to assist in the provision of these much needed facilities for local families that enables them to be close to treatments and to those that love and provide them with strength and some normality during a very frightening time.
Given the statistics of the local area, someone in your family or a close friend will be affected by some form of cancer and they’re going to need the support, services and facilities that the MCCR work hard at fundraising to provide to the area. We’re a rural community and we need to look after one another.
Besides, what person wouldn’t want to be part of any Musical and one that’s put on by the legendary MCCR! What a way to have a fun time raising money – it’s going to be a hoot!

Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated
The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
